DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Original Air Date: Friday, June 01, 2007

Bo and John arrive at the DiMera mansion to see Tony. Bart reluctantly ushers them inside, and Bo and John are stunned when Tony enters the living room on horseback. Bo asks Tony where Sami is and Tony feigns ignorance. John wants to ask Stefano where Sami is, and starts to head upstairs. Tony demands a search warrant, and when Bo and John admit they don't have one, Tony insists they leave his house immediately. EJ rushes to save Sami, who's duct-taped to the steering wheel of Lucas' car, slowly being poisoned by carbon monoxide gas. EJ rescues Sami from the car and tries to revive her by performing mouth-to-mouth. Lucas arrives and takes over, and Sami regains consciousness, overwrought when she realizes how close she came to dying. Lucas accuses EJ of being in love with Sami, warning him to stay away from her. Bo and John arrive as Sami is taken away by an ambulance. Bo gets in EJ's face, warning him to stay away from Sami. Bo tells EJ that if he or his family goes anywhere near her, Bo will consider it a declaration of war. Stephanie introduces Chelsea to her boyfriend Jeremy Horton and his best friend Jett Carver, Abe's nephew, the guys who want to start a shuttle service between Salem and Las Vegas. Jeremy and Jett sadly inform Stephanie and Chelsea that their investor dropped out, so there's not going to be a shuttle service. Stephanie, determined to help Jeremy, calls Max and asks him about investing. Max agrees to borrow $25,000 against his garage business to invest in "Touch the Sky" Airlines. Stephanie can't wait to tell everyone about it, but Jeremy warns her to keep it to herself until they're established. Stephanie teases Jeremy about his overreaction, thinking he was hiding something. Jeremy laughs it off, but his face darkens when Stephanie turns away. Chelsea is put off by Jeremy, but Jett charms her and manages to calm her down.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Original Air Date: Thursday, May 31, 2007

EJ warns Sami that Tony didn't accept the deal. Bo takes EJ down to the police station for questioning. Marlena, Hope and Sami discuss the long-standing feud between the Bradys and the DiMeras, wondering where and why it began. Sami's reminded of the letter she and Lucas discovered at the DiMera estate in New Orleans. Sami retrieves the letter and Hope, who speaks some Italian, is able to tell Sami and Marlena that the letter was written by Santo DiMera on his death bed to his son, Stefano. Santo had been in love with a woman, but she was taken away from him. Hope also makes out the word "Brady" in the letter, but that's all she can read. Sami leaves with the letter to have it translated by an Italian teacher at Salem U., but she's waylaid outside the pub by Tony's henchman, Bart, who drugs her and then locks her inside Lucas' car as a hose pumps in gas fumes. EJ is stunned when John walks through the door of the police station and tells him he remembers what happened at the boathouse. EJ doesn't fall for John's bluff and tells John that his memory was affected by the coma if he's suggesting that he shot him. EJ warns that Sami's life will be in danger if he's locked up and not around to help her. EJ explains that Tony plans to take Sami's baby from her and kill her, but EJ's attempting to get to Stefano and persuade him to stop Tony. Lucas calls Sami, but he's unable to reach her. EJ gets a call on his cell and then bolts out the door. Shawn returns from Willow's and learns that Philip wants him and Belle to move into the Kiriakis mansion. Philip explains that it will help with the search for Claire, because the three of them can work on the case around the clock. Shawn balks at the idea and tells Philip he doesn't want to be in debt to him, referring to the emotional cost. Shawn feels if he accepts Philip's offer, Philip will have the upper hand. Shawn tells Belle that the real reason he doesn't want to move into the Kiriakis place is because he doesn't trust Philip. Belle urges Shawn to trust Philip, and reveals that Philip talked to Willow on Shawn's behalf. Belle and Shawn reach a compromise, agreeing to move in with Philip until Shawn finds a job.

On the next Days of our Lives:
Bo and John confront Tony. EJ rushes to save Sami. Stephanie may be in over her head.

Full Blue Moon

The moon will be full May 31st at 9:04 pm.

• Full Blue Moon - May For more than half a century, whenever two full Moons appeared in a single month (which happens on average every 2 1/2 to 3 years), the second has been christened a "Blue Moon." In our lexicon, we describe an unusual event as happening "Once in a Blue Moon." This expression was first noted back in 1821 and refers to occurrences that are uncommon, though not truly rare.

On past occasions, usually after vast forest fires or major volcanic eruptions, the Moon has reportedly taken on a bluish or lavender hue. Soot and ash particles, propelled high into the Earth's atmosphere, can sometimes make the Moon appear bluish.

Why "Blue" Moon? For the longest time nobody knew exactly why the second full Moon of a calendar month was designated as a Blue Moon. One explanation connects it with the word "belewe" from the Old English, meaning, "to betray." Perhaps, then, the Moon was "belewe" because it betrayed the usual perception of one full Moon per month. However, in the March 1999 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine, author Phillip Hiscock revealed one somewhat confusing origin of this term. It seems that the modern custom of naming the second full Moon of a month "blue," came from an article published in the March 1946 Sky & Telescope magazine. The article was "Once in a Blue Moon," written by James Hugh Pruett. In this article, Pruett interpreted what he read in a publication known as the Maine Farmers' Almanac (no relation to this Farmers' Almanac, published in Lewiston, Maine), and declared that a second full Moon in a calendar month is a "Blue Moon."

However, after reviewing the Maine Farmer's Almanac, Hiscock found that during the editorship of Henry Porter Trefethen (1932 to 1957), the Maine Farmers' Almanac made occasional reference to a Blue Moon, but derived it from a completely different (and rather convoluted) seasonal rule. As simply as can be described, according to Trefethen's almanac, there are normally three full Moons for each season of the year. But when a particular season ends up containing four full Moons, then the third of that season is called a Blue Moon! To make matters more confusing, the beginning of the seasons listed in Trefethen's almanac were fixed. A fictitious or dynamical mean Sun produced four seasons of equal length with dates which differed slightly from more conventional calculations. So, basically the current use of "Blue Moon" to mean the second full Moon in a month can be traced to a 55-year-old mistake in Sky & Telescope magazine.

High tide of psychic powers, helpful in all types of magic, this is a powerful time where energy is in abundance. Magical rites are amplified as energy is in its zenith. Full moon magic works best in a seven-day cycle - three priors, the night of, and three after.

So, remember while you out tonight planting corn, or milking your cow, ;-) Heeheehee or more likely out shopping or going to the movies or even clubbing to watch for Werewolves for they will be out tonight "Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the Full Blue Moon is bright." When the Full Blue Moon grows fat, a paralyzing fear sweeps through land. For snarls that sound like human words can be heard whining through the wind. And all around are the footprints of a monster whose hunger cannot be sated.... Cycle of the Werewolf is here.

I will be celebrating the Full Blue Moon by watching Werewolf movies all night. I will watch one or all these Werewolf movies on DVD.

Sami tells Lucas about the deal she made with EJ, offering Stefano the stem cells from her baby in exchange for dropping his vendetta against the Bradys. Lucas thinks she's out of her mind. Marlena, John, Bo and Hope arrive, and Sami is overjoyed to see that John is out of his coma. Lucas tells them about Sami's attempt to cut a deal with the DiMeras. Sami tries to convince everyone to let her handle this her way. EJ calls Sami and says he needs to meet with her. Bo pressures Sami to ask EJ to come to the pub in order for Bo to surprise him and take him in for questioning. John hides so that he can be sprung on EJ later. EJ shows up and Bo tells him he's taking him down to the station. EJ tells Sami that the DiMeras didn't go for her deal, and how both she and EJ are in danger. Willow moves into her new place when Philip shows up, asking Willow to play fair with Shawn about their baby. Belle tells Shawn that she'll welcome his new child. Belle and Shawn are locked in a kiss when Philip enters. Shawn leaves to see Willow. Philip tells Belle that he asked Willow to be cool with Shawn. Philip tells Belle that he's started a massive search effort to find Claire. And if you ever think of me, think of all your liberties and recall. Some gave all
And if you ever think of me. Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall Some gave all. To all the Men and Women of the Unites States Armed Services, I am writings this note to say thank you. Thank you for your courage and bravery, thank you for defending my freedom, to standing up to terrorist around the world. You all are true American Heroes. You have my support and my respect. My prayers are with you and your families. May GOD Bless you all, and May GOD Bless America. With all my Love, Prayers, Respect, and Admiration,

Carl Ray Louk

Dear Friend,

Heroes aren’t athletes who set new sports records or Hollywood actors who make “daring” films, or politicians who make bold promises. Heroes are people who place themselves at risk for the benefit of others.

America enjoys freedom today because true heroes – the men and women of the United States Armed Forces – our courageous soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Guardsmen – sacrifice their tomorrows for us.

Memorial Day is an opportunity for Americans to say “Thank You” to our brave defenders of freedom and their families, especially the children they have left behind. In declaring a day of memorial to those who had died in service to our country, General John Logan, then Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, proclaimed on May 5, 1868:

“…let us in this solemn preserve renew our pledges to aid and assist those whom they have left among us as sacred charges upon the Nation’s gratitude – the soldier’s widow and orphan.”

On Memorial Day and every day, Freedom Alliance honors America’s brave Defenders of Freedom through its Support Our Troops program, which over the years, has provided more than $1 million in assistance to our troops on the battlefield, as well as the combat-wounded military heroes who have returned from battle. The wife of one of our injured heroes recently wrote us:

"Dear Freedom Alliance,

We would like to thank you for your help in our time of need. My husband has been in the ICU for the last four months and it is really hard for me and our kids. We are just getting by day to day. Your grant helped me a lot to pay for my overdue bills. Once again, thank you so much and may God bless you all."

Hardly a day goes by that Freedom Alliance doesn’t get an urgent request to help a military family get food in the house and gas in the car or help with airfare so a loving Mom can be with her son during multiple surgeries and rehabilitation.

Just recently, an Army Chaplain called Freedom Alliance with an emergency request to help with the funeral expenses for a soldier’s wife, who had died in a tragic accident. This soldier was injured in Iraq and is currently recuperating at one of our military hospitals. Freedom Alliance also just rushed funds to the family of another soldier so they could travel to see his Purple Heart ceremony.

And, while the need is great here at home, on Memorial Day we must also remember our troops on the front lines of the War on Terror. Freedom Alliance continues to send care packages, as well as thousands of cards and letters of appreciation to those on the battlefield.

Your generous online contribution today will enable us to continue honoring these heroes. I visit these brave men and women every chance I get. They are the best and bravest of a new generation of Americans defending our right to remain free. When I see them, I bring them your prayers of hope and messages of encouragement and love – reminding them that the American people will never forget the sacrifice they make.

Freedom Alliance also assists families and the children left behind through the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund which honors the bravery and dedication of Americans in our Armed Forces, who have sacrificed life or limb in service to our country, by providing educational scholarships for their children.

To date, Freedom Alliance has awarded more than a $1 million in scholarships in the last several years and we have 105 students on scholarship this academic year. Two of our scholarship recipients are pictured left with Chief Warrant Officer Gayward Hendry, USMC, (Ret). They are Jessica Schwab (left), who is a sophomore at the University of Chicago and Megan Speicher-Harris, who is a sophomore at the University of Florida. Both of their fathers served in the U.S. Navy. Commander Pete Schwab was killed when his plane crashed when Jessica was just 11 years old. Many of you may remember Captain Scott Speicher, whose plane was shot down over Iraq in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, when Megan was only four years old. He is officially listed as Missing In Action.

Sadly, in the last 20 years, more than 15,000 U.S. service members have lost their lives defending our country. More than 3,400 men and women have been killed in Operation Enduring Freedom or Iraqi Freedom, leaving behind thousands of young children. I’ve seen these heroes make that final sacrifice for our country. It’s never easy. What makes it more difficult is to know that this American’s dying prayer is for a loved one back home.

The children who are left behind deserve our help. With your support, these children will not only attain a college education, but they’ll know that their parents are heroes – not because of the way they died, but because of the way they lived.

Please click here to make your most generous online gift to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund – A Living Memorial to America’s Military Heroes.

Please join with me to pay tribute to our front-line warriors and their families and children with your tax-deductible contribution today? May we count on you this Memorial Day as together we honor them and thank them for the sacrifices they have made for our great country.

I am counting on you, my friend, to open your heart to this cause which means so much to all of us. Please click here to make your gift and keep our Brave Defenders of Freedom in your thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your family during this Memorial Day holiday and thank you for your generous support.

King Kong (1933)
Whoever thought that a movie starring a giant ape would inspire countless imitations? But King Kong (1933) turned out to be a major blockbuster for its era and still remains the "king" of this peculiar genre. For those who need to brush up on their gorilla classics, here's the set-up: Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong), an arrogant documentary filmmaker, organizes a trek into unchartered territory in the hopes of discovering a unique animal that he can capture, bring back to civilization, and exploit for profit. After hiring Ann Darrow (Fay Wray), an attractive blonde, to help him on his mission, Denham leads his crew to mysterious, fog-enshrouded Skull Island where they encounter something tall, dark, and very hairy.

Working with a modest budget, Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, the producers of King Kong, had to make do with limited resources in terms of sets. Most of the budget was allocated to special effects and musical scoring. The jungle, overgrown with gigantic flora, was actually recycled from Schoedsack's previous film, The Most Dangerous Game (1932). He actually began shooting jungle locations for King Kong before The Most Dangerous Game had wrapped and between setups the crew would rush in to shoot their own jungle scenes. What made the schedule even more hectic was the fact that Fay Wray also starred in The Most Dangerous Game and had to race back and forth between the two films; Not surprisingly, her outfit for the jungle sequences in each film is suspiciously familiar!

Originally co-director Merian Cooper envisioned using a real gorilla for Kong, but once having screened Willis O'Brien's animation for a now-lost film called Creation, he knew that the special effects technician could bring his beast to life. Although in the film, Kong appears to be 40 feet tall; he was actually only an 18-inch model. The great ape was a skillful combination of a metal mesh skeleton, a mixture of rubber and foam for the muscle structure and rabbit fur for his hair. With trick photography, rear projection and an array of glass plates, Cooper and Schoedsack helped their three cinematographers blend O'Brien's stop-motion-animated sequences with real actors to create a realistic beast. O'Brien, of course, had built his reputation as Hollywood's top motion-control animator with his first feature-length film, The Lost World (1925), starring Wallace Beery.

As wildly popular and profitable as King Kong was on its first release in 1933, the censors sharpened their scissors on the big gorilla for its 1938 re-release and demanded that 29 scenes from the original version be cut before the film could be granted a seal of approval. For example, the bloody carcasses of five men dying in the jaws of the Brontosaurus were edited so that the beast only claimed three victims. Three lives were more acceptable to the Hays Office. The scene in which Kong holds an unconscious Ann Darrow (Fay Wray) captive in his massive palm while gently peeling off her dress like a linen banana was completely unacceptable to the new morality. This scene was completely eliminated for the 1938 release. Other scenes that were deleted included Kong chomping down on a New Yorker and dropping a woman from the Empire State Building. Despite these crucial cuts, most of the edited scenes were eventually restored to King Kong and seem rather tame by today's standards. However, O'Brien's title creation is still impressive, particularly in his first appearance, and Fay Wray still has the best scream in Hollywood history; it's one that has chilled audiences in such classic horror flicks as Doctor X (1932) and The Vampire Bat (1933).

This third installment of writer/director Sam Raimi's comic-bookish horror trilogy that began with The Evil Dead (1982) finds one-armed Ash (Bruce Campbell) stuck in the 14th century, armed only with his trusty chainsaw prosthetic. After wiping out a few score Deadites, Ash plaintively asks to go home and is told that to do so, he needs to locate the Necronomicon, a book that can raise or put down the dead. Along the way, Ash romances the princess Sheila (Embeth Davidtz) and has to deal with the Evil Ash, a malevolent version of himself. When he finally arrives at the graveyard where the magic book is reputedly located, he mangles the required incantation and, instead of snaring the book, awakens the army of darkness: a multitude of walking skeletons. A wild Raimi ride, with a hilarious performance from the under-used Campbell, non-stop action, and terrific special effects by William Mesa.
