Happy Kwanzaa! The Holiday Brought To You By the FBI Ann Coulter | Dec 24, 2014

Ann Coulter

I will not be shooting any Black Panthers this week because I am Kwanza-reform, and we are not that observant. Kwanzaa, celebrated exclusively by white liberals, is a fake holiday invented in 1966 by black radical/FBI stooge, Ron Karenga -- aka Dr. Maulana Karenga, founder of United Slaves, the violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers. In the annals of the American '60s, Karenga was the Father Gapon, pawn of the czarist police.

In what was ultimately a foolish gambit, during the madness of the '60s, the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left. The more preposterous the group, the better. By that criterion, Karenga's United Slaves was perfect.

Despite modern perceptions that blend all the black activists of the '60s, the Black Panthers did not hate whites. Although some of their most high-profile leaders were drug dealers and murderers, they did not seek armed revolution.

Those were the precepts of Karenga's United Slaves. The United Slaves were proto-fascists, walking around in dashikis, gunning down Black Panthers and adopting invented "African" names.

And hasn't that been a huge help to the black community? The black man who assassinated two New York City cops last week went by the name "Ismaaiyl Abdullah-Muhammad," and the man who attempted to hatchet four NYPD officers to death in October had adopted the name "Zaim Farouq Abdul-Malik."

It's as if David Duke invented a holiday called "Anglika," which he based on the philosophy of "Mein Kampf" -- and clueless public school teachers began celebrating the made-up, racist holiday.

Whether Karenga was a willing FBI dupe, or just a dupe, remains unclear.

In the category of the-gentleman-doth-protest-too-much, back in the '70s, Karenga was quick to criticize Nigerian newspapers that claimed that certain American black radicals were CIA operatives. Karenga publicly denounced the idea, saying, "Africans must stop generalizing about the loyalties and motives of Afro-Americans, including the widespread suspicion of black Americans being CIA agents."

In a 1995 interview with Ethnic NewsWatch, Karenga matter-of-factly explained that the forces out to get O.J. Simpson for the "framed" murder of two whites included: "the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, Interpol, the Chicago Police Department" and so on. Karenga should know about FBI infiltration. (He further noted that the evidence against O.J. did not "eliminate unreasonable doubt" -- an interesting standard of proof.)

Now we know: The FBI fueled the bloody rivalry between the Panthers and United Slaves. In one barbarous outburst, Karenga's United Slaves shot two Black Panthers to death on the UCLA campus: Al "Bunchy" Carter and John Huggins. Karenga himself served time, a useful stepping-stone for his current position as a black studies professor at California State University at Long Beach.

(Speaking of which, Rep. Paul Ryan certainly is right about what a fantastic job his mentor Jack Kemp did reaching out to all those "socially conservative" minorities. Look at how California has swung decisively to the right since Kemp started all that outreach stuff. Good luck winning California now, Democrats!)

Back to the esteemed Cal State professor: Karenga's invented holiday is a nutty blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism. The seven principles of Kwanzaa are the very same seven principles of the Symbionese Liberation Army, another invention of the Worst Generation.

In 1974, Patty Hearst, kidnap victim-cum-SLA revolutionary, posed next to the banner of her alleged captors, a seven-headed cobra. Each snakehead stood for one of the SLA's revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba and Imani. These are the exact same seven "principles" of Kwanzaa. And here's something interesting: Kawaida, Kwanzaa and Kuumba are also the only three Kardashian sisters not to have their own shows on the E! Network.

Kwanzaa praises collectivism in every possible area of life -- economics, work, personality, even litter removal. ("Kuumba: Everyone should strive to improve the community and make it more beautiful.") It takes a village to raise a police snitch. When Karenga was asked to distinguish Kawaida, the philosophy underlying Kwanzaa, from "classical Marxism," he essentially said that, under Kawaida, we also hate whites.

While taking the "best of early Chinese and Cuban socialism" -- excluding, one hopes, mass murder, forced abortions, imprisonment of homosexuals and forced labor -- Karenga said Kawaida practitioners believe one's racial identity "determines life conditions, life chances and self-understanding."

There's an inclusive philosophy for you!

Kwanzaa was the result of a '60s psychosis grafted onto the black community with the tacit encouragement of the FBI. Liberals have become so mesmerized by multicultural gibberish that they have forgotten the real history of Kwanzaa and Karenga's United Slaves -- the violence, the Marxism, the insanity.

Most absurdly, for leftists anyway, they have forgotten the FBI's tacit encouragement of this murderous black nationalist cult founded by the father of Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa emerged not from Africa, but from the FBI's COINTELPRO.

Sing to "Jingle Bells":

Kwanzaa bells, dashikis sell
Whitey has to pay;
Burning, shooting, oh what fun
On this made-up holiday!

Only white liberals take Kwanzaa seriously. American blacks celebrate Christmas. Merry Christmas, fellow Christians!

The Cross Was Preceded by the Cradle David Limbaugh | Dec 23, 2014

David Limbaugh

God became a man to save us from our sins, which he did finally and completely on the Cross. We commemorate his death and resurrection on Easter, but his suffering on our behalf began much earlier than that. We would do well to remember that at Christmastime, when we celebrate our savior's birth.

Seminary professor Bob Tuttle, in his 2006 book, "Shortening the Leap," puts that in perspective poignantly: "The Jesus of glory still bears the marks of the Incarnation, and not just in his hands, his side and his feet, but in his navel, because the suffering began in the manger, not on the Cross."

Tuttle continues: "All of the Incarnation was a passion narrative -- cradle to grave. Mel Gibson's movie The Passion doesn't know the half of it. It hurts God to be squeezed into sperm and implanted in a mama."

Bishop Fulton Sheen, in his "Life of Christ," made this very point as he put Christ's incarnation in terms of a gripping metaphor. "It is hard for a human being to understand the humility that was involved in the Word becoming flesh," wrote Sheen. "Imagine, if it were possible, a human person divesting himself of his body, and then sending his soul into the body of a serpent. A double humiliation would follow: first, accepting the limitations of a serpentine organism, knowing all the while his mind was superior, and that fangs could not adequately articulate thoughts no serpent ever possessed. The second humiliation would be to be forced as a result of this 'emptying of self' to live in the companionship of serpents. But all this is nothing compared to the emptying of God, by which He took on the form of man and accepted the limitations of humanity, such as hunger and persecution; not trivial either was it for the Wisdom of God to condemn Himself to association with poor fishermen who knew so little. But this humiliation which began ... when He was conceived in the Virgin Mary was only the first of many to counteract the pride of man, until the final humiliation of death on the Cross."

These great theological thinkers don't make this stuff up. They're not fashioning their theology out of whole cloth. God's revealed Word tells the story.

The writer of Hebrews explains: "Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted."

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, describes it this way: "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross."

I think we sometimes forget to emphasize sufficiently that Christ's selfless, substitutionary death on the Cross so that we could live was preceded by his 30-plus years on this planet as a human being, suffering all the indignities of humanity so that he could fully experience, literally in the flesh, what we created mortals experience -- and far worse. (His separation from the Father and his acceptance of God's wrath for all of our past, present and future sins were greater suffering than we could imagine, well beyond anything any of us will ever experience.)

Our God is personal and relational. He created us in his image to enjoy fellowship with him and with one another. Our omniscient Creator doesn't merely understand our suffering intellectually. He doesn't just comprehend our human relationships by way of analogy in the sense that he has always enjoyed fellowship within the Holy Trinity.

Jesus Christ became and remains not just the Deity but a human being who has related to us and continues to relate to us not just as our God but also as a person.

Among the unspeakable marvels of God is that though he is utterly beyond our comprehension -- his perfection, his infinity and his wisdom are unfathomable to us -- he is also wholly accessible to us. He not only is available but invites us to have a personal relationship with him.

Because he loves us, he died on the Cross for us. But never forget that years before he completed his work on the Cross, he was born for us -- as a little, dependent baby in his earthly mother's arms -- in Bethlehem.

It is the event of his birth that we celebrate at Christmas, without which there would have been no Cross, without which there would be no life everlasting for us.

Merry Christmas to all.

The Rest of the 'Unbroken' Story Chuck Norris | Dec 23, 2014

Chuck Norris

On Dec. 25, the unforgettable story about Louis Zamperini, an Olympian turned World War II prisoner of war hero, opens in theaters nationwide. As astoundingly resilient as Zamperini was, however, his real power was found in a fact underplayed in the movie; namely, he whose birth we celebrate Dec. 25 is the one responsible for restoring and transforming Zamperini's heart and life.

First, let me say, few lives can compare with Zamperini's. He lived hard from a young age. He smoked cigarettes by the time he was 5, and his favorite pastime as a youth was stealing beer from bootleggers.

Cops and his family members devised a plan to harness all his criminal energy into competitive running. It worked. In 1934, he set a record by running a mile in just four minutes, 21 seconds -- a speed that landed him in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin alongside Jesse Owens and other greats. He placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run, but he ran the last quarter-mile in just 56 seconds -- a time that prompted Adolf Hitler to want to meet him.

Zamperini wanted to compete in the 1940 Olympics, but Europe was in the midst of war. When America burst into World War II, Zamperini was drafted as a bombardier for the U.S. Army Air Corps. During a search and rescue mission for a downed American plane, Zamperini's own plane plunged into the ocean because of engine trouble. He was among only three of 11 who survived.

Zamperini and his two fellow crewmen were afloat on a raft for 47 excruciating days, warding off starvation, sharks and the blistering sun. They survived by eating albatrosses that landed on the raft.

In 2003, The Christian Broadcasting Network conducted a two-part interview with Zamperini. He explained, "All we did on the raft was pray morning, noon and night." Twice conditions got so life-threatening that he bargained with God that if he would spare his life, he would serve him forever.

Eventually, a plane flew overhead, but it was a Japanese fighter, which unloaded its ammunition on them. Amazingly, they weren't hit. They drifted for two more weeks, and one crew member died. They finally spotted land on their 47th day, but shortly afterward, they were picked up by the Japanese before ever reaching land. Zamperini weighed only about 65 pounds when he went into captivity.

For the next two years, Zamperini became a prisoner of war and suffered horrendously at the hands of a tyrant guard called "The Bird," torture that was so bad he chose not to talk about it in his CBN interview.

At the end of the war in September 1945, Zamperini was released, returned home, got married, had a family and tried to live as normally as he could, but he just couldn't shake the wages of war.

For years, the only "help" Zamperini received for his post-traumatic stress disorder was from a bottle of alcohol. He would often awaken screaming from nightmares and even once woke up to find himself strangling his pregnant wife.

She grew tired of Zamperini's daily drunkenness and sought a divorce. Meanwhile, someone told her about a young new evangelist named Billy Graham, who was coming to the Los Angeles area. She attended his crusade and gave her life to Jesus Christ, believing he died for her sins.

She returned to Zamperini and explained to him some good news: "Because of my conversion, Louis, I'm not going to get a divorce." He was thrilled but added, "She and her newly found Christian friends were all over me, and I avoided them like a plague."

Because he wanted to save his marriage, however, Zamperini reluctantly agreed to attend Graham's next crusade, which was the Los Angeles Crusade of 1949, held in a huge tent.

Zamperini explained Billy's preaching this way: "He talked about one person only -- the person of Jesus Christ -- for 30 minutes." Zamperini continued, "He read the Scriptures, 'For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God' and 'The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.'"

Zamperini further elaborated, "I knew I was a sinner, but I didn't like the idea of someone else reminding me!" So he started to walk out of the crusade. As he did, he thought about all of the prayers God had answered years earlier when he was on the raft and in the prisoner camps.

The Christian Post reported Zamperini's feelings: "I started to leave the tent meeting, and I felt (awfully) guilty about my life. Yes, I had a lot of great times, a lot of great (experiences), a lot of escape from death, but I still didn't like my life after the war. I came home alive. God kept his promise. I didn't keep mine, and so I went forward and accepted Christ."

Zamperini explained that he knew, in an instant, that God had forgiven not only him but also his captors, including "The Bird." As miraculous proof, Zamperini explained that the nightly nightmares he'd had since leaving the war vanished. He said, "That's just some kind of a miracle."

In 1950, Zamperini came full circle, returning to Japan to offer forgiveness to his captors. He couldn't meet with "The Bird" but did meet with many others, and as a result, some gave their life to Christ. In 1998, at age 81, Zamperini again returned to Japan. He ran with the Olympic torch before a cheering Japanese crowd.

Asked what gave him the strength to return to Japan and forgive his torturers, Zamperini explained, "The heart of this story is when I found Christ as my savior. That's the heart of my whole life."

To ensure that moviegoers understand the full picture of Zamperini's faith and life, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has announced that it will release its own movie about Zamperini, "Louis Zamperini: Captured by Grace," online Dec. 25 -- the same day as the release of the movie "Unbroken."

To watch a preview of "Louis Zamperini: Captured by Grace," click here.

Next week, I will discuss the depth of Zamperini's Christian faith and what his own adult children have said about it.

Who's Responsible? Thomas Sowell | Dec 23, 2014

Thomas Sowell

The cold-blooded murder of two New York City policemen as they sat in their car is not only an outrage but also a wake-up call. It shows, in the most painful way, the high cost of having demagogues, politicians, mobs and the media constantly taking cheap shots at the police.

Those cheap shots are in fact very expensive shots, not only to the police themselves but to the whole society. Someone once said that civilization is a thin crust over a volcano. The police are part of that thin crust. We have seen before our own eyes, first in Ferguson, Missouri and then in other communities, what happens when there is just a small crack in that crust, and barbarism and arson burst out.

That can happen anywhere. So can what happened in New York. "Send not to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."

It is a painful irony that, on the eve of the murders of these two police officers in New York, some of the city's police were already saying that, in the event of their deaths, they did not want Mayor Bill de Blasio to attend their funerals.

We can only hope that Mayor de Blasio has some residual decency, so that he will not defile these two officers' memorial services with his presence. No politician in the country has done more to play the race card against the police and spread the notion that cops are the big problem in minority communities.

It so happens that the police officers killed were both members of minority groups -- Officer Rafael Ramos, Hispanic, and Officer Wenjian Liu, Asian. It so happens that a substantial part of the New York City police force are members of minority groups.

But you might never know that from the story told by demagogues who depict the black community as a "colonial" society being "occupied" by white policemen who target young blacks. Mayor de Blasio joined the chorus of those saying that they have to warn their black sons how to cope with this situation.

"What can we say to our sons?" some demagogues ask. They can say, "Don't go around punching strangers, because it is only a matter of time before you punch the wrong stranger."

Mayor de Blasio has made anti-police comments with Al Sharpton seated at his side. This is the same Al Sharpton with a trail of slime going back more than a quarter of a century, during which he has whipped up mobs and fomented race hatred from the days of the Tawana Brawley "rape" hoax of 1987 to the Duke University "rape" hoax of 2006 and the Ferguson riots of 2014.

Make no mistake about it. There is political mileage to be made siding with demagogues like Al Sharpton who, as demagogue-in-chief, has been invited to the White House dozens of times by its commander-in-chief.

Many in the media and among the intelligentsia cherish the romantic tale of an "us" against "them" struggle of beleaguered ghetto blacks defending themselves against the aggression of white policemen. The gullible include both whites who don't know what they are talking about and blacks who don't know what they are talking about either, because they never grew up in a ghetto. Among the latter are the President of the United States and his Attorney General.

Such people readily buy the story that ghetto social problems today -- from children being raised without a father to runaway rates of murder -- are "a legacy of slavery," even though such social problems were nowhere near as severe in the first half of the 20th century as they became in the second half.

You would be hard pressed to name just five examples from the first half of the 20th century of the kinds of ghetto riots that have raged in more than a hundred cities during the second half. Such riots are a legacy of the social degeneracy of our times.

Calling this social degeneracy "a legacy of slavery" is not just an excuse for those who engage in it, it is an excuse for the ideology of the intelligentsia behind the social policies that promoted this degeneracy.

Let those who have laid a guilt trip on people in our times, for evils done by other people in past centuries, at least face their own responsibility for the evil consequences of their own notions and policies. If they won't do it, then the rest of us need to stop listening gullibly to what they are saying.

The race card is nothing to play with. It can ruin us all.

A Lesson in Optimism from Israel Dr. Ben Carson | Dec 24, 2014

Dr. Ben Carson

Like many other Americans, I have always had a desire to travel to Israel and visit firsthand the many historical sites of spiritual significance. I was recently afforded the opportunity to fulfill that desire and was not disappointed.

In addition to being greatly inspired, I spoke with numerous Israeli citizens from a variety of backgrounds. One overwhelming theme in those conversations was the feeling of abandonment by the United States government. Some of the more diplomatic individuals said they felt sidelined by a U.S. government that had more important issues to deal with. Of course, they had not forgotten the times that our military and financial aid saved them from utter defeat at the hands of their numerous local enemies.

We must remember that Israel is a small country, about the size of New Jersey, with only 8 million people. It is surrounded by Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea, with several other hostile nations in proximity. Enemy forces are in control of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which consists primarily of Samaria and Judea. If not for the Iron Dome missile defense system, the multitudinous rockets launched at Israel this summer from Gaza would have wreaked unimaginable damage on the tiny country. Many Israelis believe, probably correctly, that the aggressiveness of the hostile nations surrounding them is increased when the perception exists that we in the United States are not seriously committed to their protection.

Some will say we have no more of an obligation to Israel than we do to any other country in the Middle East. Perhaps they have forgotten that Israel is one of our staunchest allies and has collaborated with us on many innovative and mutually beneficial products. Having a strong and dependable military ally in what is arguably the most problematic area of the world right now is certainly a tremendous benefit. As a nation, we have a strong Judeo-Christian heritage, which is important to our identity and the strong value system that once characterized our nation. Furthermore, other nations watch how we treat our longtime ally, since that might serve as a harbinger of how we would treat them.

In my many conversations in Israel, the level of optimism I found also impressed me. Despite the fact that Israelis must send their children to school in armored buses and take many other life-changing precautions on a daily basis, most of them did not seem to be bitter, and they were determined not to let terrorists take control of their lives. The opportunity to visit their thriving and innovative technology sector will never be forgotten. While birthrates are declining in America and Europe, the Israeli birthrate, slightly over three children per family, is increasing. Historically, pessimistic people do not tend to have increasing birthrates. If they can be optimistic while facing death, hatred and attempted destruction every single day, is there a lesson there for us?

We live in a country with significant personal freedom, a formidable military, significant levels of common decency and numerous economic opportunities. Additionally, we are on the verge of gaining energy independence, which will positively impact our portfolio of diplomatic options. With the courage and fortitude to take advantage of these and many other benefits, there is no reason that optimism should not reign supreme in America.

Black Progression and Retrogression Walter E. Williams | Dec 24, 2014

Walter E. Williams

There is no question, though it's not acknowledged enough, that black Americans have made greater gains, over some of the highest hurdles and in a very short span of time, than any other racial group in mankind's history. What's the evidence? If black Americans were thought of as a nation with their own gross domestic product, they'd rank among the 20 wealthiest nations. It was a black American, Gen. Colin Powell, who headed the mightiest military in mankind's history. A few black Americans are among the world's wealthiest. Many black Americans are among the world's most famous personalities.

The significance of all this is that in 1865, neither an ex-slave nor an ex-slave owner would have believed that such progress would be possible in less than a century and a half. As such, it speaks to the intestinal fortitude of a people. Just as importantly, it speaks to the greatness of a nation within which such progress was possible. That progress would have been impossible anywhere except in the United States of America. The challenge that lies before us is how those gains can be extended to a large percentage of black people for whom they appear elusive.

A good start to meeting that challenge is to recognize that much of the pathology seen in many black communities is entirely new in black history. Let's look at some of that history. In the late 1800s, depending on the city, 70 to 80 percent of black households were two-parent. In 1925 New York City, 85 percent of black households were two-parent. As late as 1950, only 18 percent of black households were single-parent. From 1890 to 1940, a slightly higher percentage of black adults had married than white adults. In 1940, black illegitimacy was about 14 percent.

Today it's an entirely different story. Black illegitimacy is 75 percent. Close to 50 percent of marriage-age blacks never marry. Close to 70 percent of black households are female-headed. If one thinks family structure doesn't matter, consider that the poverty rate among black female-headed families is about 47 percent but among married families it has been in the single digits for more than two decades. It's not just poverty. Children raised by single parents are likelier to be physically abused; use drugs; engage in violent, delinquent and criminal behavior; have emotional and behavioral problems; and drop out of school.

What about employment? Every census from 1890 to 1950 showed that black labor force participation rates were higher than those of whites. Today it's a mere fraction. Prior to the mid-'50s, the unemployment rate for black 16- and 17-year-olds was under 10 percent and less than that of whites. Who would argue that this more favorable employment picture was because there was less racial discrimination in the job market in earlier times? Labor laws such as the Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 -- a federal minimum wage law for construction workers -- and the 1938 federal minimum wage law for all workers reduced work opportunities for blacks.

Then there's the high crime rate. Each year, roughly 7,000 blacks are murdered. Ninety-four percent of the time, the murderer is another black person. Though blacks are 13 percent of the nation's population, they are more than 50 percent of homicide victims. Nationally, the black homicide victimization rate is six times that of whites, and in some cities, it's 22 times that of whites. Along with being most of the nation's homicide victims, blacks are most of the victims of violent personal crimes, such as assault and robbery.

Older black people, who were raised in an era when there was far greater discrimination and who faced far fewer opportunities, need to speak out against behavior and excuses that their parents would have never accepted. Otherwise, the race hustlers, poverty pimps and white liberals will continue with the narrative that black problems are a result of racism and racist cops and condemn future generations of blacks to a lifetime of mediocrity.
