Steve meets with psychologist Ella Kraft, insisting that he's not crazy and shouldn't be in the state mental hospital. Ella tells Steve that he's been charged with serious crimes, and the judge did him a favor by not putting him before a jury. Ella asks Steve why he kidnapped John and had Kayla remove his kidney. Steve says he doesn't know, and Ella suggests Steve explore his unconscious. Steve agrees to go along if Ella will let him out of his straitjacket, and Ella says she'll do it if he takes a sedative. Steve takes a sedative, then feigns dizziness and falls, taking Ella down with him. Steve pulls out Ella's phone after she leaves, having snagged it during their entanglement. Steve calls EJ and tells him to get him out of the hospital. Kayla confronts EJ, saying she knows he's responsible for Steve being brainwashed and manipulated. EJ denies, and warns Kayla not to get in his way. Nick tries to get the courage to tell Chelsea the truth, as she talks about being in love with him. Chelsea convinces Nick that the future is the only thing that matters, not the past. Nick decides not to tell Chelsea, as Billie comes in and inadvertently reveals to Chelsea that she slept with Nick. Chelsea is devastated after hearing the news. Celeste tells Sami that she came to the church because the tarot cards said that EJ is after her baby. Celeste tells Sami that EJ and Stefano need a male heir to ensure the future of the DiMera empire. Celeste warns Sami that EJ won't let up on Sami now that he's chosen her to be the mother of his child. Sami wants to fake the results of the amniocentesis, but Celeste is certain that she won't be able to fool EJ. Celeste tells Sami that the only way to be free of EJ is to kill him. Max feels guilty that he wasn't more committed to Mimi, especially after she learned the truth that she killed her father. Max confesses to Abby that he was relieved when Mimi left. Abby tells Max not to beat himself up. Abby explains that Mimi would've found out sooner or later, and tells Max that he did all he could for her. Max tells Abby that he's glad she was there for him, pleasing her.

Sheridan "accidentally" blurts out to Luis that there was a serious incident between Fancy and her sister Pretty years ago. Sheridan won't say anything else about it, claiming she's protecting Fancy. Sheridan and Luis bond when they reminisce about their past. Fancy realizes that Sheridan could ruin her relationship with Luis if she ever told him about the incident with Pretty. Fancy and Chris try to figure out where Luis is hiding, knowing Sheridan is probably there with him. Kay pulls away from her kiss with Miguel, feeling guilty about Fox. Miguel tells Kay that in a few months, the truth about Fox will come out Miguel says that either Fox will be dead, or if he's alive, they'll know he lied. Miguel tell Kay that either way, she'll be free to be with him. Chad's lover promises to keep their affair a secret, provided Chad admits that he loves him. Whitney tells Theresa to ignore her blackmailer and tell Ethan the truth, and Theresa is tempted. Ethan and Jared face off over the upcoming wedding.
