Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill star in this psychological thriller set on the open seas, directed by Phillip Noyce. When husband and wife John and Rae Ingram (Neill, Kidman) set off on a yachting trip after the accidental death of their infant son, they come upon a castaway (Billy Zane from Titanic) from a disabled schooner. When the castaway's story doesn't quite add up, John investigates the schooner and discovers a dark secret. But while he's gone, the castaway has already commandeered the yacht and taken his wife hostage. The tense script by Terry Hayes (Payback, Vertical Limit) is based on a popular novel by Charles Williams.

Lake Placid (1999) is the brainchild of David E. Kelley, quirky writer of TV series Ally McBeal and The Practice, and director Steve Miner, co-creator of the Friday the 13th movie series. Their skills are combined in a comedic horror movie in which a 30-foot man-eating alligator surfaces in a tranquil Maine lake, drawing nature-hating paleontologist Kelly Scott (Bridget Fonda), game warden Jack Wells (Bill Pullman), millionaire Hector Cyr (Oliver Platt) and sheriff Hank Keogh (Brendan Gleeson) into an investigation. Each character has his or her own reason for wanting to find the crocodile, with chaos ensuing as they race to capture it, dead or alive.

McGregor is Martin, a law student who takes a night job in a morgue that looks right at home in a horror movie, complete with big halls and eerie lighting. When local prostitutes end up dead in what appears to be a rash of serial killings, clues in the morgue point to Martin as the murderer in this chiller featuring Nick Nolte and Patricia Arquette, with a screenplay by award-winning Traffic (2000) director Steven Soderbergh.
