Last night was just the beginning... September 15, 2010 - 12:33 ET GLENN: I have to tell you, I read one of the best headlines I have read in I don't know how long. This made me so very, very happy. Let me pull it up. It was on the front page of the Drudge Report today. There it is. Right under Tea Party favorites score in Delaware, New York, and New Hampshire. The headline, Establishment Freaks. Hmmm. I'm so happy. Aren't you feeling good? Tea Party, let me tell you something. You have won now. You have won the day. You have done the absolute impossible. You have done something that everyone said could not be done. You have taken the establishment against all odds, people who are just bakers and plumbers, teachers, business leaders, just average moms and dads and kids, and you have built something here to where a year and a half ago, I had to convince you that you had the power. I had to convince you that you are not alone. And Rick Santelli just had to say, there needs to be some sort of a Tea Party! And look what you've done. In Delaware a guy who has been in congress for four decades and had everything going for him, done. This I believe is the seventh or eighth massive upset with the Tea Party. Now, everyone today in the media is going to say, well, the Republicans are in Civil War, and the Republicans. And in a way it's true, except it's not brother against brother. Here's what it is. It's establishment versus the people. It is the elites versus the people. That's the Civil War here. Are you going to be controlled and dominated or are we a country that is based on the people, of the people, and for the people? Which are we? Are we in control or are we just given the illusion of control? Today at least in the primaries, the people are in control. It doesn't matter what the establishment tells us anymore. We're not believing it. And here's the even better news: It's independents, too. Once you can get the Democrats to understand that they have been lied to as well, that we don't have so much ‑‑ we have more in common than we have apart from each other. I'm not talking about the progressive machinery. I'm talking about the average Democrat. Now, there are far more progressives in the world than I thought there ever were. I mean, you know, there are more communists. I thought communism was a joke. So you're not going to get everybody. Because we have to wake up and understand that there are people in our own country that are Americans that have a right to a point of view, and that point of view is the Constitution stinks on ice, the free market system stinks on ice, and it's had its whirl but it's time for it to be over. That is the valid view. I completely disagree with it, but it is a valid view of many people in this country, more than you care to recognize. There are those Americans that would like to destroy America as we know it today to create or fundamentally transform into something that they are being awfully cagey about but will look, will look like a very weakened America in a global governance situation. Those are your choices. Constitution, entrepreneurial spirit, a can‑do attitude, an attitude of common sense, or global governance with a weakened America that plays a secondary role at best, and misery. Now, let me talk to the tea parties in the 9/12 group, and I single the Tea Party out because the 9/12 group I hope ‑‑ well, I can't ‑‑ let me just speak to the tea parties and the 9/12 group because I see the 9/12 group maybe differently than what they've made themselves into. So I don't know. So let me lump you all together just in case. You have to understand that you have won. Now the tough part begins because what you've done is you have, all the way along you have been ridiculed, you have been made fun of, you've been called violent, they have only shown pictures of you in, you know, the Statue of Liberty uniform, they have done everything they can, everything they can to make you unlike anything that you really, truly are. Why did the Black Panthers come out ‑‑ which, they didn't show up. Why did the Black Panthers come out and say that they were going to ‑‑ we'll meet Glenn Beck on the mall on 8/28. Why did they do that? It was strategy. It was to suppress the numbers, to keep people away. They don't know you. And that's why you didn't stay away. Why did I ask you, don't bring any signs? I got heat for that. A lot of people wrote and said, we have a right of free speech. Okay. Whatever. Please. Just bring your children, not your signs. What was the thing that was absent from the coverage, I mean besides accurate facts, what was absent from the coverage of 8/28? That they were racist and then showing racism, you know, racist signs, that they were crazy. Only the Huffington Post ran pictures of people that were dressed in red, white and blue, but they didn't look crazy. But they tried to make them crazy because they were wearing, you know, flag shirts. The angry looking sign holders, all of that was absent. Why? Because you brought your family. Here's my message to the tea parties. You now are in the catbird seat. You are now in the position of power. There is no way ‑‑ forget about what anybody says on television today. You are not getting anything but lies. So forget about television and forget about listening to the talking heads on television that are giving you the same old stuff because they're either a Republican or a Democrat or they're establishment. The establishment, you are witnessing today the beginning of the end of the establishment. And you've done it the right way. But now you have to understand that now you have an opportunity to expand this beyond the Republican Party. You already have. Because it's not Republicans. It's Republicans and independents. You've got two thirds. You have the Republicans and the independents. But now we have to reach out to everybody else that looks at their party and the Democrats and say, I'm not that. I don't like the way they did this, I don't like what they're doing now. I believe in the free market system, and how are you going to do that? By not allowing the media to typecast you anymore. You must understand there is ‑‑ there are phases of a movement and the first phase is get out, get into people's phase, let your voice be heard. Your voice, believe me. Let me read the headline again: Establishment freaks. Now you really want to freak them? Tea Party, I have nothing to do with you other than I'm one of your voices. No greater or any less than your voice. And there are a lot of people in the Tea Party that disagree with me, and that's fine. But Tea Party leaders, hear me carefully. Listen carefully. Now is the time to not be what they paint you as. You are not there. I'm saying ‑‑ let me free phrase it because it's not right. Don't be ‑‑ don't appear to be what they paint you as, as a bunch of, you know, crazy ‑‑ here, let me just be real direct. Hang up the Statue of Liberty costume. It's been great, we've loved it. Hang it up. Leave it in the closet. Don't bring your signs anymore. Your power now is in the power of numbers. You must always appear on television, always appear as a group of people that are just locking arms, are absolutely for peace. Believe me, believe me, this is going to be important. You must make a clear stand for peace, not because everybody says you're violent but because violence is coming and it is coming from the left. And so America must have a clear choice. You really are, you really are the people that are peaceful, that believe in the free market system, that believe in small government, that don't believe in corruption, that don't believe in special interests and earmarks and everything. That's who you really are. Now make sure that you are always seen on television just as that, just as people that everybody can turn on the TV and go, you know, I'm like them. Bring your families to these events. People must see you and say, I'm like them. And I'm sorry. As much as I appreciate the Statue of Liberty uniform or the Uncle Sam outfit, I don't see myself as that. There's a difference between the beginning of a movement and actually governing. The beginning is over. Last night you saw the end of the beginning. Now you're in the game and you are in control. Now you go for the real win and it can be done. You can win. Delaware, don't you listen to them. She can win. I don't know anything about her. I mean, assuming that she's not nuts, but you can win. Because there are Democrats that want to join you, that may not agree on every little issue, but if you stand for principles, if you stand for the Constitution, if you stand for enough is enough, you can win. And don't you let anybody else tell you different. You just need to make sure that you always appear as who you really are.
