Glenn Beck: Ground Zero imam -- America worse than Al Qaeda August 24, 2010 - 12:07 ET GLENN: Cut 294, please, the moderate imam and the way he has been talking about, of course, the United States. Here we go. IMAM RAUF: We tend to forget in the West that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non Muslims. GLENN: Okay. IMAM RAUF: You may remember that the U.S. led sanctions against Iraq led to the deaths of over a half a million Iraqi children. PAT: Oh, wow. IMAM RAUF: This has been documented by the United Nations. PAT: It's been documented by the United Nations. GLENN: Well, the United Nations would know. PAT: You know it's true. GLENN: Certainly they would know. So it's not who's it's not Saddam Hussein who took the money PAT: No. GLENN: That he was supposed to be using for food and medicine and building palaces. PAT: Nope. GLENN: It's not Saddam Hussein. PAT: United States. And we killed those half a million Iraqi children due to our brutality and we're worse than Al Qaeda. We've killed more did you notice, innocent non Muslims than they have? Because he knows they've killed probably far more Muslims than we have. How many Muslims has Al Qaeda killed in Iraq and Afghanistan? GLENN: I have no idea, but PAT: Tens of thousands. GLENN: Yeah. PAT: Got to be. GLENN: Well, but we are a little better at it. PAT: You think so? GLENN: Yeah. I think we're better at killing people. PAT: Well, I mean, we're better at killing bad people, I think, and we try specifically not to kill the innocent people. GLENN: Let's not qualify it. Hang on just a second. Let's not qualify it. PAT: Are you sure? STU: I think it's worth a qualification. PAT: I think it's who are the qualifying. GLENN: No. What is war? War is to kill people, and you kill them as fast as you can to scare the other side to stop the killing. That's what you do. STU: That's part of it. It's all PAT: We actually do limit the civilian casualties. GLENN: Excuse me, excuse me. We're the only nation in the world that has ever done anything like that. This is the only time period PAT: I know. GLENN: that that has ever, ever happened. STU: To our credit. GLENN: Absolutely. Absolutely. STU: I like that policy. You know, as much as you have to make sure that you don't, you know, extend wars because you're being too, you know GLENN: And that's exactly what we do. STU: To some degree, yeah. GLENN: We kill, we kill more people that are needless deaths because we're being politically correct, because we buy into this bullcrap that people like this imam shove down our throats. That, oh, look at how many innocent people. You know what? You kill people as fast as you can, shock and awe, to scare the other side. We would kill far less people if we weren't politically correct. STU: Well, I mean, there's obviously a limit to that. We're not going to every time we have an issue with a nation start dropping nukes on them. There's a level of you try to take out military establishments, weaken their military. GLENN: Exactly right. You do it STU: It's not just indiscriminate bombing. GLENN: It's proportionate. It's proportionate. You go in and you do what you have to do. You don't go in and somebody's like, "I violated a peace treaty." Launch the nukes. STU: Right. GLENN: Right. You don't do that. But we don't also go in, we don't also go in and try to understand everyone. If we've decided to do war, you do war. STU: And try to get it over as quickly as possible. GLENN: War is hell. STU: Right. GLENN: Good. So let's unleash hell and get it done as fast as we can to stop the killing on both sides. STU: Right. But I mean, you know, secondarily to that, you try to limit the amount of people who have nothing. Like, you know, you try to not kill innocent people as much as possible. GLENN: I agree with you, as much as possible. But what we do is, do you know that we have people who go out on the battlefield to make sure, out on the battlefield to make sure that no rights of any women on either side are being violated? STU: We GLENN: We're sending people out on a battlefield worried about women's rights? Are you kidding me? STU: You hate to put people in danger. I mean, you know, the bottom line is that our standards are higher than any nation. GLENN: Ever. STU: In history. GLENN: Ever. STU: Do we ever get credit for that?
